ForM 2023: The Artwork

ForM is by far my favourite group exhibition of the year to visit and I am honoured to have been one of artists involved in it this year.

Organised by Cultureardsandnorthdown, it is set in the picturesque Bangor Walled Garden with sculptures and art works tucked in beside flowers, herbs, ponds and trees, so everywhere you look your eyes are met with something interesting, provoking or just plain beautiful.

For the month of June, the garden is transformed into an outdoor art gallery showcasing approximately 30 sculptures, some of which are impressively large, while others of smaller scale need to be discovered within the greenery

The ForM Sculpture Award winners for this year's exhibition were also announced and I am delighted to have been awarded 3rd place at the reception. Many congratulations to the awarded artists:

  • 1st Place - Brendan Jamison

  • 2nd Place - Alison Hanvey

  • 3rd Place - Me!

  • Highly Commended - Kate O'Neill

  • Highly Commended - Rosalind Lowry

This Year, I have been pleased to showcase new work, ‘Embodied Place,’ a ceramic figurative sculpture which speaks about The Beauty of Flowers being not merely visual, but symbolic. They are a poignant reminder that blooming and decaying, life and death, are inseparable. But that which does not last becomes all the more precious for it.

And tell me, which was your favourite piece?
